What’s a terrorist have to do to get a little press around here?

The annual GEOINT Symposium in San Antonio, hosted by the United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation, is “the nation’s preeminent intelligence event of the year”.

The 2011 theme is Forging Integrated Intelligence.  GEOINT 2011 offers panels and breakout tracks on online/on-demand capabilities, human geography and socio-cultural dynamics, intelligence integration, open source GEOINT, weapons of mass destruction, crowd source intelligence, international commercial satellite imagery, intelligence in the cloud and much more.

Keynotes for the symposium include Gen. Keith B. Alexander, U.S. Army, commander, U.S. Cyber Command, and director, National Security Agency; Mr. Bruce Carlson, director, National Reconnaissance Office; the Honorable James R. Clapper Jr., Director of National Intelligence; Gen. Douglas Fraser, U.S. Air Force, commander, U.S. Southern Command; Gen. C. Robert “Bob” Kehler, U.S. Air Force, commander, U.S. Strategic Command; Ms. Letitia A. Long, director, National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency; U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers of Michigan, chairman, House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence; U.S. Rep. C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger of Maryland, ranking member, House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence; Adm. James A. “Sandy” Winnefeld Jr., U.S. Navy, commander, North American Aerospace Defense Command, and commander, U.S. Northern Command; and the Honorable Michael G. “Mike” Vickers, under secretary of Defense for Intelligence.

4000 top leaders in the US intelligence community were at last year’s conference.

Five foreign nationals from French-Morocco who had broken into the Bexar County Courthouse less than 1/2 mile from this event were arrested at 2AM this morning(10/19/11) by the FBI.  In their van were found pictures of buildings, diagrams of water systems, parking passes, travel documents, photographic equipment and equipment for generating documents.  Officials downplayed any link to the conference, however, coincidentally many of the conference attendees left or began closing shop and leaving immediately after this became known.

No mention of their being Muslim.  Because the MSM didn’t mention this whole incident.

At all.

Other than from you, Drik, it’s been the sound of one hand clapping. Thanks for the heads-up.

A Nashville tv station reports at http://www.newschannel5.com/story/15725035/officials-claim-tennessee-becomes-first-state-to-deploy-vipr-statewide that, according to its headline, “Tennessee Becomes First State To Fight Terrorism Statewide.” Gotta wonder what all of those federal Homeland Security grants and stimulus money went for. Just sayin’.
