Now arsenic has been outed in apple juice, in Consumer Reports and on Dr. Oz. And at levels a couple times the levels allowed in drinking water. And at levels a couple times the amount that is termed safe for healthy adults even on an intermitant basis. Plus, drinking water is calibrated on the idea that healthy adults are drinking it. No calibration figured in for it being a staple primary liquid for children and infants, who weigh a fraction as much and who have sensitive, growing bones, muscles, and nerves that will be MUCH more affected.
Fortunately the FDA, who is supposedly the nanny-state protector and regulator of all things that we supposedly choose to consume jumped in and procalimed that a significant portion of the arsenic in the apple juice is “organic” arsenic. Now in George Orwell’s Newspeak, we have good “organic” arsenic instead of bad “inorganic” arsenic.
Last I checked, arsenic was an element, which meant that it is the same regardless of the source. Unless of course, you are running an industry and might have made copious donations (aka payoffs) to the lib/prog politician du jour. In which case you get access to the whole spin generatioun apparatus to come up with warm cuddly terms for things that are poison. We were no less or more made sick by our food back when we didn’t have an FDA sucking down $4 billion a year, back when this sort of thing was handled by each state.
Did I mention they found lead also?
Oh, a spoonful of sugar helps the Obamacare go down…..
