Who’s the fairest of them all?

Better be careful how you answer that, mirror, if you don’t want to end up as glass bits.

At a speech in Kansas, Presbo said he is promoting a “vision of an America where everyone engages in fair play, does their fair share and gets a fair shot.”

Which is what was meant in the Constitution where it talked about “equal protection under the law”.  But Presbo is also pushing the idea that “the rich need to do their fair share”, as though they were not already.  And he studiously avoids ever pinpointing what that is.    When democratic voters are polled about what a fair share is, they invariably pick a number that is substantially LESS than the rich are currently paying, both as a percentage of their own income and as a percentage of the costs of running the government.

So it is really important to stay vague about what it means to be fair.  And to not base it on even the liberal voter’s actual conception.  Because half of the country is already quite satisfied with the amount of taxes that THEY personally pay.  (Of note, half of the country pays zero in income taxes.)

Gets too confusing if the liberal democrat voters start understanding that the fair share that THEY think the rich should pay is far less than Presbo thinks.

The fare is not fair.
