Obama owes us

The English domination of Ireland existed  for more than 800 years (compare again to the years of slavery). In various times, in multiple centuries, the English either directly or indirectly attempted to kill and starve the Irish. The Irish themselves were enslaved by the English and sent to the Caribbean (particularly Barbados) and the New World.During both the 17th Century and the 19th Century significant percentages of Irish were killed due to English policy.  Observers at the time considered the treatment of Irish worse than black slaves or American Indians. The Irish could be killed on sight if found off of their reservation.  The American Indians could even be killed on a whim since they weren’t regarded as real human beings with a soul. The French were treated little better and there was considerable argument over whether they should be allowed on British soil.  In Le Grand Displacement, French goods and lands were siezed in Nova Scotia and Acadia and French folks had to pick up what they could carry and get the hell out.  They ended up scattered all up and down the eastern seaboard and down to Louisiana, aka Cajuns.

Obama’s ancestors are 1/3 English, and the Kenyan side was Arabic or Muslem, not West African black.  No slaves there, but plenty of possible slave owners and imperialist types. My wife’s ancestors were heavily Irish, French, and some Indian and I’ve got lots of French.

So Obama owes us reparations.
N’est pas?

About drrik

3rd career and 2nd childhood. Spends spare time repairing old things. Aspires to burn more gasoline, gunpowder, and ink in pursuit of slowing down. Child of the 60s and aspiring student of history. No desire to see us repeat the failed social experiments that keep failing for lack of human beings that meet the left wing standards and have to be killed off. Did engineering long enough to realize that very little is new and the wheel does not need to be reinvented.
