Santorum voted for federal funding for faith-based abstinence programs, not in and of itself a bad thing, since abstinence programs, i.e. “Just say ‘No'”, based on nothing didn’t seem to work.
A bigger issue is having the government force people basically at gunpoint to fund things. And then to argue over exactly what the government is forcing the funding of. Totally misses that the federal government should be only minimally involved with forcing us to do anything that doesn’t relate to the 17 single things delegated (“enumerated”) to it in the Constitution. If it is ok for the government to be forcing us at gunpoint to fund things that are not specified in the Constitution then it is just as right for the government to do it based entirely on which political party is currently in control of the Congress and/or the White House.
‘Cept it’s not. Because then we do not have the freedom to vote on how we run our own lives, which was the reason that the original independent countries (aka states) were so hesitant to commit to being in this union in the first place.
