White House Press Secretary Jay Carney, doing damage control for Presbo and the ridiculous, inflammatory comments that he had made about the Supreme Court being “group of unelected people” taking an “unprecedented extraordinary step” to overturn a law passed by a “strong majority” of a democratically elected Congress.
Baddabing. It’s so extraordinary that they’ve done it 1315 times in 209 years. The passage of Obamacare was 219 to 212 in the House with no Republican votes at all and 34 Democrats voting against it. It passed the Senate 60-39 with no Republican votes at all.
Mr. Carney said that Presbo’s attack on the Supreme Court was misunderstood because he was speaking in “shorthand” since he is a former professor of law. Actually he was not a professor or an assistant professor. He was a senior lecturer.
Talking about Mr.Carney, reminds me of another Carney on the TV show the Honeymooners, playing Ed Norton who was explaining to Ralph’s wife Alice why Ralph absolutely had to be present at a meeting at his lodge, because he was the Grand High Exalted Mystic Ruler of the Order of Raccoons. His friend Ed accidentally disclosed that in the Racccon Lodge this was the lowest position. At Harvard, “senior lecturer” is Harvard-ese for an instructor, which is the lowest position you can have and stand up in front of students to speak without being told to sit down and be quiet. Part-time. Un-tenured.
As for a “constitutional” non-professor, Presbo lectured on one single subject, the 14th amendment, for the entire time that he was a non-professor there. Unclear if he ever read the rest of the document.
Which would explain a lot
