Let them (not) eat cake

In the best tradition of a political class totally disconnected from the needs and desires of the people from whom they derive their duties and livelihood, the lib-progs in the Department of Public Health in the state of Massachusetts have banned  “unhealthy foods sold during bake sales, classroom parties, in vending machines and during non-lunch hours” beginning 30 minutes before school starts and extending to 30 minutes after school ends.  And this is just the tip of the regulatory iceberg that they are intending to impose.  If this does not incur more than a modicum of flak, they intend to expand the restrictions to school events held at nights, on weekends and in the community, potentially impacting banquets, proms and concession stands at sporting events.  This dramatically negatively impacts the ability of the schools to raise money to cover currently unfunded school trips and athletic equipment.

Apparently the state is unhappy with all of the nutritious uneaten food that the school children are dutifully picking up and then just as dutifully carrying over and dumping into the trash.  They are intending to have a stranglehold on the neck of child obesity and are intending to use the regulatory of government to move every other option out of the way while just as rigidly shoving the healthy options right up in the face of the recalcitrant kids.

“You vill eat dis und you vill like it!”

School administrators are upset and parents are livid. No cupcakes in the socialist America.

Mary Antoinette did so well with this approach.
