“We can invest $15 billion a year in renewable sources of energy … to create 5 million new jobs, new energy jobs, all across [the] country, jobs that pay well, jobs that can’t be outsourced.”_ Presbo 2008
Fast forward to today. $90 billion down the rat hole on green energy. 16,000 new jobs. Total. In 3 1/ 2 years.
Net cost $5.6 million of tax dollars per job created. Costing about a million and a half a year.
Good work, if you can get it.

Down the rat hole is right. And he has more plans for spending on “green” energy. I guess we will have another 90 billion down the rat hole. I heard today that we have 49 million people now on government assistance in one way or another. Way to go Dictator!
I may have that number wrong, it may have been 49% on government assistance. Sorry for the error.
No one should have as goal the creation of jobs. Wrong target.
If you’re government, your economics goal is to protect and defend individual liberty. If you’re government, your non-economics goal is to protect and defend individual liberty.
If you’re an entrepreneur, your goal is to start a venture which is attractive to, oh say, Bain Capital. If you’re Bain, your goal is to make a profit by fostering the entrepreneurial venture. Oh, and as unintended and un-thought-of consequence, that venture as it grows will have to create some jobs.
Bain Capital is getting slammed in the campaign ads for picking winners and losers. Somehow, Presbo (ala Solyndra-fication) is supposed to better for just picking the latter.
