A gay choice

Much has been made of the idea that homosexuality, despite the obvious negative survival impact, is an inherited trait.  Rather that being an aberration or abnormality caused by the blank, mutable, infinitely plastic slate that is the human mind being raised in less than ideal environments with less than ideal role models and survival options.  There is much about genetics and our 100,000 years species history that we do not know.  We do not know all of the circumstances that must arise for our genetic heritage to assume that survival prospects are poor and that energy must not be expended towards progeny due to the negative impact on the human community and it’s likelihood of survival.

We know that if there is not enough food and a female’s body weight drops below a certain level, that the menstrual cycle stops.  This is probably a good thing since much of the time that mankind has been on earth, most of the species has been at starvation levels right at the edge of survival and this would definitely impact the family survival.  We know that we inherit  the ability to put on weight quickly during times when calories are available, likely to get us through leaner winters.  We know that females excel at this in order to have the ability to supply regular food (milk supply) to their young for several years and that they become less fertile during that period.  There are a myriad of factors that are inherited that affect how we procreate.  We know very little as to what environmental factors arise that may tip towards the production of one gender over the other.

But now, Planned Parenthood, the government sponsored/subsidized abortion-mill, has been caught instructing customers on how to do abortions to self-select the gender of their babies, and to kill the ones that are not the right gender.  And despite all the professed shock and distaste,  our House of Representatives, led by an almost unanimous democratic faction failed the 2/3rd vote to make this illegal even though the vote to do so was 246 to 168.  The White House chimed in that  “The government should not intrude in medical decisions or private family matters in this way.”  No awareness of the irony there.

So what comes to mind, since there exists the possibility that “gayness” could be an inherited trait and NOT a behaviorally induced aberration,  suppose, just suppose, that a gene/gene cluster for being gay is found.  Certainly would make for major changes in our culture’s view of gender.  And then would raise all kinds of issues of whether this would be a protected minority class, or a disability.  But at some point, it would come up and end up being put to a vote, as to whether the government should weigh in.  And prohibit those parents who, given the choice from the same Planned Parenthood folks that are now allowing the targeting of females, as to whether the parents would like to automatically abort their soon-to-be-born gay offspring?

And would our beneficient government demure and allow parents the same choice that they are now refusing to prohibit the chauvinistic parents who are now killing their daughters?  And would the lib-progs then raise any hue and cry over the loss of this constituency as the option to automatically abort the gay might then culminate in the removal of this group from the population?

I wonder.

Interesting times.  Chinese curse.
