Seizing the 17th

I cannot muster the energy to tackle trying to bring about a constitutional convention in the hopes that the rational minds now running the state legislatures would repeal the 17th amendment and not create any other mischief.

What I could do and have energy for, however is to lay the groundwork for a campaign to have a proxy vote signed by every inclined individual in my particular state to have each of our votes for a state senator operated on by my state legislature, in hopes that there would be sufficient impetus to have enough of my fellow state citizens join me and override the party apparatus that designates the apparent heir.

And if enough other states had the same activity and copied me…..    Viola!  A defacto repeal and overthrow of the 17th amendment by the state citizens and without the need for a con-con or for the never-to-occur activity of the Senate to actually curtail their own usurped power.

And then the Senators would once again have to worry about pleasing the states and fear for their jobs if they didn’t.  And monstrosities like Obamacare could not again be foisted on us as a free people.

I LIKE it.

We can’t “stop” the juggernaught attempt of federal usurpation of all power and all control to a central authority. But we COULD sign up to proxy our vote for our state senator to our state representative. Corporations do this for shareholders all the time. Would take very little effort to creat a legal power of attorney to give legal authority specifically to our state rep specifically for their current term and only for his or her ability to vote in the state senatorial election in our stead, have it notarized and sent off the state legislature.

Doesn’t take a special dispensation, an internet movement, or a website. All it takes is a power of attorney form which can be downloaded free from many internet sites and have it say that it is delegating soley the responsibility for selecting and casting your vote and only for that rep’s current term.

Once enough people do that, the state legislature then has been delgated back the power and control that had been usurped by the federal government by the 17th amendment and the PR campaign that was waged to foist that monstrosity on us. And once we do this, they would not be able to foist ANOTHER monstrosity like Obamcare on us again without being held accountable by the state legislature who IS accountable to us.

A defacto repeal of the 17th, without the need for and participation of the Congress.

      Power to the people!
