Currently, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO), which is legally prohibited from making any reports based on what people are actually LIKELY to do in response to legislation or based on what has happened every time in the past, has come out with some troubling new numbers regarding Obamacare.
To recap, much of what allowed Obamacare to be sold was the funny numbers being trumpeted about regarding costs. The total cost was publicized as being held at under a trillion and that it was justified because it would allow insurance for everyone in the United States that is currently uninsured. According to the CBO, we are dealing with 53 million uninsured people here in the US. In that, they are including a plan to provide health insurance to all the illegal aliens as well.
Now that we are further along, the CBO has been able to revise its projections based on what has really happened which was expected by everyone involved except for their folks doing press releases for the politicians that voted for it. For them this is “unexpected”.
Obamacare’s actual cost looks like it is going to be closer to $2.6 trillion. And from all the uninsured, by 2022 30 million people will STILL be uninsured. According to the CBO. Before the Supremes allowed the states off the hook on Medicaid, the number of folks uncovered would have still been 27 million. Not that big a difference.
The difference, that Obamacare will leave 30 million of the uninsured still uninsured is a detail that the politicians hope will magically go away. Or at least not be made public.
So we will be spending another 2.6 trillion dollars to provide insurance for (53 minus 30 =) 23 million people. Which works out to $113, 043 dollars apiece for each of those people by 8 years from now.
Which works out to $14,130 a year per person for insurance, about double what we HAD been paying AND the government takes over a major part of the economy and sets up the IPAB board to ration and restrict and specify what care is care.
Must be REALLY good insurance.
Good artice. It seems these numbers just keep growing. 2.6 T, wow and he isn’t done, and neither is ObamaCare.
I forgot, and it was going to save money too. 🙂
Really makes it easy to take Cloward and Piven seriously.
drrik,
Great article about Obamacide. What a mess. I read these numbers and heard on Fox that the amount of money will be astronomical in the end. And to think all that money and still people will be uninsured. It is a travesty. I sure hope Romney gets elected and repeals this monstrosity. Those of us who did not want it knew this was just going to be another demon spending plan. I wish more people knew what’s really in this bill. They would be shocked.
