John Podesta’s (head man at the Center for American Progress, Soros’s political think tank and general money and idea spreader/manipulator) brother Tony has gotten a bunch of golf organization’s together to form a political group We Are Golf, to ask politicians not to make so many jokes about Presbo’s inclination to put the links over the job. Tony and John both have the calling and are interested in doing all they can for Presbo, and make a good living doing it.
Apparently someone has been counting and Presbo has played 4 times as much golf in 3 1/2 years as Bush did in 8. And because it has become such a ridiculously obvious and easy target, comedians, politicians, columnists, pretty much everybody over the age of 6 that might keep up with and comment on things political has made a negative disparaging comment about it. Apparently it is giving the public idea that golf is a sort of dilitant’s game, which people do RATHER than working, the bailiwick of wealthy snobs that don’t have much going on socially. And it is reflecting negatively on the “sport”, having some sort of imagined negative impact on the people who DO make their living messing round with it or supplying the materials for those that do. Or at least, if not having a negative impact, it is making people feel more than a little self-conscious and guilty admitting that they are involved in it. And in addition to making all the golf people look bad, coincidentally, it is making Presbo look bad at the same time. And it a lot easier to make all the media and politicians and writers and pundits change than it is to make Presbo change.
A direction of decline that started when we found out that Tiger Woods was banging everything that moved and now cemented by Presbo’s tendency to retreat there to relax, when under stress, when he is in town, out-of-town, entertaining guests, between meals, pretty much any waking moment.
For his comments, we go now to Fairlawn Country Club where we have arranged for him to interview us between holes…..Mr. President….hello?….hello?….Mr. President?…..
Sorry, apparently some sort of hang up on the back nine and he isn’t going to be able to make the interview. But a White House spokesperson has assured us that he regularly attends all of the official White house functions and is rarely on the links these days because he is just too busy and as soon as he finishes this 18, he is going to see if he can call the Israeli ambassador, to say “hi” and schedule a meeting…..say…. some time in November.
