Specific, not general

When the government takes money from the residents of one state and gives it to another state, it is not providing for general welfare, but rather specific welfare.  The ability to tax to collect revenue for expenditures is only allowed per the Constitution for seventeen specified duties.  Penalizing one state and benefiting another is not a legal function and does not benefit the “general welfare”.  Likewise, when the federal government collects taxes and redistributes them to specific individuals, this is no longer “general welfare”.  It is very specific.  It is not one of the duties or legally delegated powers of the federal government per our Constitution.  It is allowable only by and under the legal authority of the state within which I reside as a sovereign entity, if that state’s citizens so decide to support it.

Unfortunately, that includes our precious Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid that are both unconstitutional and unsustainable.  Were it to be ended tomorrow across the country, I would grudgingly accept that it is an illegal function of our government and curtails our freedom and liberty and that I will likely be working until I drop, in support of the original concept of freedom. Since it is likely to be patched together and ignored while the dollar is inflated to worthlessness and made to limp along for the next 20 years until it collapses, I expect I will instead line up and pocket the illegal redistribution while continuing to try to educate other people to put a stop to it.

Hard to be pure.
