EBT cards are good for tattoos, beer, and gas. Not for places that sell those things specifically. A place that sells JUST that is restricted from cashing in the EBT cards. But a place that sells a mix of stuff, like beer, chips, wine, gas, ding dongs and ho-ho’s, and tattoos, and where a person could conceivably get some government subsidized food if they were inclined, that place has absolutely no restriction from selling a compadre a nice tatoo and then charging the EBT card for it.
Apparently it is too undignified to actually require some accountability about the actual use that the massive amount of money that is being given away is actually being put to. Or the logistics of keeping track of the actual end use of all those tax dollars is beyond the actual capability of the federal government. As Eastwood opined in Dirty Harry, ‘a man’s got to know his limitations”. If the government already knows that they are not really capable of keeping track of and holding people accountable for where all of the given-away money is being spent, then it is real nice of them to just be up front about it. But given the job that they do with the IRS of keeping track of where all the money is earned, I kind of doubt that they are as incompetent as they purport.
The point is not just EBT.
What I was getting to was the $20,000 of guns and armament that an out-of-work, impoverished brilliant nut-ball was able to assemble in order to go on a killing rampage in Aurora, Colorado. It seems that the arsenal was purchased courtesy of the US taxpayer. Shooter James Holmes was recipient of an NIH federal grant to fund his study of neuroscience. Once the money is shelled out, the federal government does absolutely zero followup as to where it is actually spent. Just like the EBT cards, once the national government gives away the money, they don’t do any actual control of what happens to it. And they don’t keep tabs on whether it is being spent on food, books, tuition, rent, or enough firepower to take over a whole building and murder a bunch of people.
For all we know, the actual funding of this bloodbath MAY not have been paid for by the NIH grant. It may just as easily have been subsidized by Holmes’s EBT card being debited at Joe’s Burger, Shake and Ammo To Go. No indignity of having to have the government peaking over people’s shoulder to keep tabs on what the tax dollars are spent on.
Still death, but with dignity.
Their death. His dignity.
Unconstitutional as hell.
